Wilton Baptist Church is seeking to raise awareness of global hunger through a series of fund-raisers featuring speakers and simple dinners.
For six Wednesdays, Sept. 30 to Nov. 4, the church will welcome speakers who will discuss what their organizations are doing locally and internationally to alleviate hunger. Speakers include a representative from Stop Hunger Now, Christine Browder from the Texas Hunger Initiative which works to feed every child in Texas, and Lane Riley of Delta Hands for Hope which provided 10,000 meals in Mississippi this summer. Other speakers will talk of their efforts in Wilton, Norwalk and New York City.
In addition to the talks, the church will serve a simple meal of rice and beans so participants “can experience some level of solidarity with people all over the world who face food insecurity.”
The meals are served at 6:30. Children are welcome and childcare will be provided for smaller children.
