Democrats begin outreach campaign

The Wilton Democratic Committee is launching its “Serve Wilton 2015” outreach campaign and invites community members to participate by learning more about the many opportunities to serve Wilton.
As part of the campaign, the Democrats will host multiple events over the next several weeks, during which residents may meet the people who currently serving on Wilton’s boards and commissions — more than 70 of whom are local Democrats — and learn more about the work they do.
The committee will also reach out to local organizations in an effort to spread the word.
“Wilton is what it is because of the dedication of residents who step forward and volunteer to serve on our boards and commissions,” said committee Chair Tom Dec.
“We hope to give residents the opportunity to learn more and serve more. Whether new to town, or a long-time resident, there are opportunities to get involved both now and in the future.
In the coming months, the Democrats will be assembling a slate of candidates for the upcoming fall, when voters will head to the polls to select candidates for public office, including first selectman. Candidates for the Wilton Board of Selectmen, Board of Finance, Board of Education, Planning & Zoning, Zoning Board of Appeals, and constable will also appear on the ballot.
Candidates for elected boards will be interviewed by the Democratic Town Committee Nominating Committee and considered by the Wilton Democratic Caucus in July 2015. Candidates for appointed boards and commissions or Democratic Town Committee membership will be considered on a rolling basis.
