The Board of Finance appointed board member Richard Creeth to represent the board during this year’s teacher’s union contract negotiations with the Board of Education.

During the finance board's Sept. 20 meeting, board member John Kalamarides nominated Creeth because he has a number of years experience on the finance board, was a selectman for eight years, and serves as a finance board liaison on the Board of Education’s Business Operations Subcommittee.

"It would be excellent training for him,” said Kalamarides. “He'd come back with a lot more information and help guide us toward a resolution of the usual Board of Education-Board of Finance collision we see every year."

Because the negotiations are confidential, finance board member Warren Serenbetz said, Creeth would learn a lot, but the finance board wouldn’t learn anything from him — although he might be able to discuss the negotiations with the board in executive sessions.
