Coping with loss during the holidays
The holiday season can be a particularly challenging time, especially for adults who are struggling to cope with grief and loss. To address this, Visiting Nurse & Hospice of Fairfield County is sponsoring two, five-week support groups.
They will each meet on Thursdays from 11 to 12:30, Nov. 16 through Dec. 21. One will meet during the day, from 11 to 12:30, the other will meet from 6 to 7:30 p.m. There will be no meetings on Nov. 23, which is Thanksgiving.
The groups will gather at the nursing agency’s offices in Suite 114 at the Health and Wellness Center at I-Park, 761 Main Avenue (Route 7), at the intersection of Kent Road, on the Wilton/Norwalk town line.
They will be led by the Rev. Karen S. Judd, a grief and bereavement counselor with the agency.
“We will explore ways to promote healing as well as discuss strategies for coping with stress and loss during this emotionally difficult time of year,” she said.
The support groups are free and open to the public but advanced registration is required. Call 203-762-8958, ext. 255.
