On Memorial Day, Monday, May 29, Wilton will pause to honor those who gave their lives to keep our nation safe and preserve the freedoms we all cherish with a parade through town and a ceremony at Hillside Cemetery.

The Memorial Day Parade Committee, chaired by USMC veteran Ray Tobiassen, is working to make this year's parade and ceremony one to be remembered. They invite the community’s help.

Any organization or individuals who would like to be part of this event should contact Tobiassen at 203-762-8841 no later than May 15. Participation can range from a group marching together, a float, or antique cars.

The parade committee receives no money from the town, so donations are most welcome and may be sent by businesses or private individuals to Wilton Parade Committee at P.O. Box 75, Wilton CT 06897.

The parade begins at 10 a.m. at 21 River Road and proceeds through Wilton Center, past the Veterans Memorial Green and Wilton Congregational Church, ending at Hillside Cemetery. A somber ceremony there will honor those who have made the supreme sacrifice in defense of our country.

The committee encourages all Wiltonians to come out with family and friends to experience one of the town’s most important community events.
