Church honors volunteers

The Wilton Congregational Church will continue its tradition of honoring members who volunteer for the church, its mission, and the community with a “Celebration of Service.”

The Mission Weekend, hosted by the Boards of Mission and Fellowship, begins at 5 on Saturday, March 9, with the Saturday @ 5 service followed by a party in Pilgrim Hall honoring eight members of the congregation for their contributions over the years. The honorees for 2013 are: Jana Bertkau, Donna Below, Bob Kelso, Joan King, Harlan Murray, Don Offinger, Kellen Sanna and Jerry Sprole.

Some of the church’s mission partners will be at the party, offering an opportunity to learn about ways to contribute. Those organizations include:  Bridgeport Rescue Mission, Children’s Rescue Mission for Children of Honduras, Christian Community Action of Norwalk, Habitat for Humanity of Coastal Fairfield County, Housatonic Habitat for Humanity, the Open Door Shelter in Norwalk, as well as Earth Ministry, and Community Plates.

Information will also be available Sunday, March 10, after the 10 a.m. service.
