Charles Grodin visits special-needs school
Wilton's Charles Grodin, actor, commentator and author visited the students at Saint Catherine Academy in Fairfield this week.
The visit was arranged following a chance meeting this summer at a Westport restaurant with Saint Catherine students Kelsey Fontana of Redding and Edi Webbe of Easton. When the girls realized that he played the father in the movie 'Beethoven,' Kelsey's mother Nancy, invited him to the school for special needs children.
The students welcomed Mr. Grodin to their classrooms and assembled for a question-and-answer period where they asked him many things from "Do you like dogs?" to "What is Hollywood like?" The visit culminated in a celebration that featured a cake the students had made in the shape of a giant St. Bernard dog that looked a lot like Beethoven. Information: stcatherineacademy.org.
