The local foliage peak, which usually comes around the first week of October, was delayed by weather conditions including warmer and drier than normal days and nights, according to the Weather Center at Western Connecticut State University in Danbury.

That means the peak of colors won’t arrive until the end of this month, Oct. 20-30, just in time for Halloween.

“We’ll have to hold on to get the more vibrant colors,” said Gary Lessor, meteorologist at the weather station.
