CL&P: "Major progress" expected today
In a recorded message to the town, First Selectman Bill Brennan announced power restoration work will continue in the following areas:
Ridgefield Road from Deforest north to the Ridgefield line
Cheesespring Road to Valley Road on New Canaan line
Sharp Hill Road
Sturges Ridge Road
Olmstead Hill Road
Old Boston Road
Old Belden Hill Road
In most cases the side roads in these areas will also have power restored.
There are 26 line crews, 16 tree crews, five pole crews, six service crews, and four DPW crews out working today. CL&P expects “major progress” today, Mr. Brennan said. As of 11:30 this morning, there were still 3,359 homes without power.
Comstock Community Center will be open today as a warming center and also for charging electronic equipment. Comstock will also serve as the town’s overnight shelter opening at 6 this evening. The Miller-Driscoll shelter has been closed.
Schools will be closed Monday.
All polling places will be open Tuesday.
