Bulletin Editor Jeannette Ross received a second-place award for transportation reporting at the New England Newspaper and Press Association (NENPA) Better Newspaper contest held in Boston last weekend.
The story, A Commuter’s Life Is Not an Easy One, was published March 13, 2015. In it Ross interviewed three Wilton commuters on the trials and tribulations of riding the Danbury Branch line.
Judges called it “a perfectly constructed piece of storytelling capturing the spirit and attitudes of veteran rail commuters between Connecticut’s towny suburbs and the Big Apple, while weaving in details that reveal the challenges and pitfalls inherent in an aging transit system.”
