ORANGE COUNTY, N.Y. — A Brookfield man was found guilty of rape in the third degree in New York state on Thursday, the Orange County District Attorney’s Office announced last week.

Lucas Xavier, 24, faces a maximum four years in state prison and 10 years of post-release supervision for the 2019 incident, District Dttorney David M. Hoovler’s office said.

“When someone says no, it means no,” Hoovler said in a statement. “Sexual assault victims have the right to be heard and, by their verdict in this case, the jury has heard the victim here. I commend the brave actions of the survivor in this case who came forward and testified about the traumatic day she was sexually assaulted. My office will continue to provide support for victims of sexual assault and seek to hold offenders accountable for their actions.”
