Avoiding lymphedema after cancer surgery
Physical therapist Laura Yarish will give a talk to the Breast Cancer Survivors Support Group on Tuesday, April 14, 6 p.m., at Wilton Library. Yarish, who is also a certified lymphedema therapist and massage therapist will speak on Preventing, Identifying and Treating Lymphedema, Frozen Shoulder, Painful Scar Tissue, and Pain and Swelling after Surgery and Radiation.
Cancer survivors who have had even one lymph node removed have a lifetime risk of developing lymphedema. Yarish will go over the signs of early lymphedema and treatment available, and more.
Yarish works at The Ahlbin Center for Rehab Medicine in Southport and has previously worked at Norwalk Hospital’s Rehab Center. She’s been a physical therapist for 24 years.
