Property owners who wish to contest the assessed value of their real or personal property must file a petition to the Board of Assessment Appeals by Monday, March 20, to be scheduled for a hearing date. The board will meet to hear appeals in April
Petitions must be filed in the assessor’s office by 4:30 p.m. March 20, 2017. The board will notify petitioners of the specific date, time and place of their hearing.
Pursuant to state law, the board cannot hear appeals for petitions filed after March 20. If a petition is postmarked March 20, but received by the assessor’s office on Tuesday, March 21, or later, the board will not grant a hearing.
Petitions are available in the assessor’s office in town hall from 8:30 to 4.
