Anxiety program for seniors

Feeling anxious frequently or being easily overwhelmed may be a sign of an anxiety disorder. Anxiety disorders are common among older adults but they may not recognize the symptoms or consequences of chronic, untreated anxiety because it feels "normal" to them.

Wilton's Visiting Nurse & Hospice of Fairfield County will present a free program, Overcoming Fear and Worry, on Tuesday morning, Oct. 16 10:30, at the Wilton Senior Center, 180 School Road.

The program will be presented by Marcie Link, a licensed clinical social worker with the agency. She will discuss the common symptoms of anxiety, what triggers it, and where and how to seek treatment. Participants will discover how to recognize anxiety in themselves and learn simple techniques to prevent and cope with it.

The community is welcome. Information: Lizabeth Doty at the Wilton Senior Center, 203-834-6240.
