The community is invited to bring their pets to a special service Sunday, Oct. 21, at 2, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 44 Portland Avenue in Georgetown.

Inspired by St. Francis of Assisi, this service recognizes the furred, feathered, finned and other animals that are part of people's lives. Pets of every species (or photos or pet-related items) will each receive an individual blessing from Pastor Becca Middeke-Conlin. The service will be followed by refreshments for people and pets.

Families raising dogs for Guiding Eyes for the Blind will be on hand to answer questions about the at-home training experience.

There is no charge for the event though old clean towels, newspapers and donations of any amount will be gratefully accepted for the Guiding Eyes puppy center.
