SOUTHINGTON \u2014 A Wilton woman has been charged with animal cruelty after police say she left her dog in her Jeep with the windows cracked. Police were called to the parking lot at the Southington Care Center on Meriden Avenue for a reported unattended dog in a vehicle around 1:45 p.m, on June 30, police said. When they arrived, Southington police said the vehicle\u2019s owner, Denise Kedzierski, told them she had left the dog \u201cfor no more than 20 minutes while inside Southington Care Center visiting.\u201d Police said at the time of the call the air temperature was nearly 84 degrees. A witness reported that Kedzierski was parked in the sun, and the dog \u201cappeared increasingly lethargic, was breathing heavy and panting\u201d police said. Police reported the dog had been in the vehicle for at least 25 minutes. The two front windows were rolled down about 2 to 30 inches, police said. Kedzierski, 58, was charged Monday with cruelty to animals, police said. She was released on $5,000 bond and is due to appear in New Britain Superior Court on Aug. 8.
