Woodcock invites fall volunteers

The Woodcock Nature Center on Deer Run Road is seeking volunteers for its sold-out Family Howl Prowl event on Friday, Oct. 24. Responsible and reliable volunteers are needed to help during the event and assist with set-up.

Donations of carved jack ‘o’ lanterns to be used to line the nature center driveway, grounds and trails during the event are also welcome. Jack ‘o’ lanterns can be dropped off in front of the staff house anytime Thursday, Oct. 23, or by 3 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 24. Candles inside are a bonus

Anyone interested in donating a jack ‘o’ lantern, volunteering during this event or at any other time of year or in any other capacity, may call 203-762-7280 or email woodcocknaturecenter@yahoo.com.

For those who missed out on registering for Howl Prowl this year, but still want to participate in the fun at Woodcock Nature Center, there are several programs and events scheduled in the coming months: Wild Weekends, Fairy Houses and Gnome Homes and Afterschool Enrichment take place in the fall. December brings the annual Wreath Festival. Check woodcocknaturecenter.org for dates and registration information.

Proceeds from programs and events at Woodcock Nature Center support environmental education and the mission of “Raising Healthy Children Today, For a Healthy Environment Tomorrow.”
