Wilton’s Malu Tan in celebratory art exhibition

Wilton artist Malu Tan is among those featured in 8 Artists 8 Years, a special exhibition celebrating the eighth anniversary of The Art Studio CT in Westport. The Art Studio is an active workspace that opens its doors to the public once a year to showcase the latest work of its members.

The anniversary show will open with a reception on Friday, Nov. 18, from 5 to 9 p.m., followed by an open studio on Saturday, Nov. 19, from 10 to 2. Art enthusiasts are welcome and both events are open to the public.

In addition to Tan, participating artists are Angela DiNapoli, Kat Evans, Veronica Hofstetter, Trish Monahan, Kris Davenport Toohey, Cynthia Whalen, and Helen Werngren.

Founded in 2008, the Art Studio CT began as the dream of Westport artist Helen Werngren, who longed for a creative community centered on a collaborative work space. With a great deal of enthusiasm and a little French enamel sign, “Entrée des Artistes,” the Art Studio CT was launched in a bright loft space in the heart of Westport.

Over the years, studio members have taught art to children and collaborated with various local art organizations such as Neighborhood Studios in Bridgeport. The group is also active within the Westport Art Center’s Collective, as well as Cultural Alliance of Fairfield County.
