Wilton fundraiser helps Yale cancer research
A fundraiser to support the Brain Metastasis Research Program at Yale Cancer Center will take place Saturday, Nov. 21, 5:30 to 8, at WEPCO. There will be live music, wine, appetizers, a giving tree, and a silent auction.
This event is being partially underwritten, organized, and hosted by The Endowment Committee of Wilton Presbyterian Church.
The cost is $30 per person in advance and $40 per person at the door.
The impetus for the fundraiser is close to home. Two Wiltonians have been diagnosed with metastatic melanoma and are currently receiving cutting-edge treatment at Yale. Until recently, there were few good options for patients whose disease had spread to their brains. Those organizing the fundraiser hope to raise money to support research in this area.
Guest speakers Dr. Harriet Kluger, a Yale oncologist and research scientist, and Dr. Veronica Chiang, a Yale neurosurgeon and clinical outcomes researcher, will discuss the clinical trials and success stories.
