Wilton Go Green plans 'most exciting' festival yet

In celebration of environmental conservation and sustainability, Wilton Go Green is hosting its fourth annual Go Green Festival on Sunday, May 4.

“Watching the festival evolve over the past four years has been thrilling,” said Jana Bertkau, Wilton Go Green co-founder and festival chairperson. “The growing response from exhibitors and visitors is a real testament to people’s desire to live more conscious, sustainable lifestyles.”

From 11 to 4, there will be live music, food, children’s activities and more than 80 craftsmen and exhibitors at the Wilton Town Green.

Original handcrafted goods will also be featured at the festival, as well as eco-conscious information and resources from sustainability professionals.

Atka, a 12-year-old Arctic gray wolf from the Wolf Conservation Center, will also be at this year’s Go Green fes,tival. Atka’s presence is to reinforce the importance of shared responsibility for the well-being of the planet and all its inhabitants.

Approximately 30 energy-efficient vehicles from the Westport Electric Car Club (WECC) will stop in Wilton around 11, along the club’s second annual EV Rally route.

This year’s Go Green Festival sponsors include:

• Deloitte;

• Community Innovations Grant for the Clean Energy Finance & Investment Authority;

• Apple Blossom School;

• Bankwell;

• Next Step Living;

• Realty Seven Wilton.

“We wanted to create a fun, informative day for people to learn about the simple steps they can take to make better use of energy, money and other scarce resources,” said Ms. Bertkau. “This year’s festival promises to be our most exciting yet.”
