Wilton’s Visiting Nurse & Hospice of Fairfield County will celebrate the life and music of the late jazz great, Dave Brubeck, at a gala fundraising event Saturday evening, April 27, at Woodway Country Club in Darien.

“The theme of the this year’s event is Making a Difference and we are pleased to be paying tribute to the legendary Dave Brubeck, who was a special friend of Visiting Nurse & Hospice of Fairfield County,” said event chair and Wilton resident Judy Higby. “We are grateful for his life, legacy, support and commitment to the important work of this agency and we honor his memory.”

The event will be emceed by Emmy Award-winning TV journalist, radio  host and author, Diane Smith, and will feature cocktails and an elegant dinner as well as musical performances and a silent auction.

The auction will include such treasures as Dave Brubeck memorabilia donated by the Brubeck family, a bass guitar or trombone lesson with Chris Brubeck, a special CD of Dave Brubeck’s last recording session and more.

A highlight of the evening will be musical performances by pianist Glenn Zaleski, a Brubeck Institute graduate, as well a set of Dave Brubeck’s vocal pieces sung by jazz vocalist Dianne Mower, who will be accompanied by Matt de Chamberlin on piano. She will be joined by NPR radio personality Colin McEnroe.
