Treating Lyme with meditation

Dr. Charles Alexander will discuss meditation as a complementary treatment for symptoms of chronic Lyme disease at the Lyme Connection Wellness Support Group’s Aug. 8 meeting.

The free, drop-in group meets at the RVNA offices in Ridgefield on the second Friday of each month, from 1:30 to 3.

Dr. Alexander is involved in a meditation study with Dr. Brian Fallon, director of Columbia University’s Lyme and Tick-Borne Disease Research Center. Meditation has been demonstrated to be a beneficial adjunctive treatment in many medical conditions.

Dr. Alexander is an assistant professor of psychiatry in the Frank H. Netter, M.D. School of Medicine at Quinnipiac University. He is also co-founder of The Aquarian Path Holistic Health Center in Southport.

In addition to his training as a psychiatrist, Dr. Alexander is a certified teacher of Kundalini Yoga.
