Town cleanup falls on Earth Day

The Wilton Conservation Commission invites all citizens to celebrate Earth Day by participating in the annual Town Wide Cleanup Day on Saturday, April 22, from 9 to noon.

Every spring helpful residents spread out around town to pick up litter along roads and the banks of the Norwalk River. Volunteers fill an entire Dumpster with the litter they collect.

“The loyal volunteers make a big impact, but there is always more work to be done and we need your help,” the commission said in a press release.

Anyone who wishes to participate may choose from a list of sites that are in desperate need of attention. Wilton’s largest watercourse, the Norwalk River, is always in need of help as litter accumulates along its banks.

Work gloves, garbage bags and a Dumpster will be available at the gazebo.  Pinocchio Pizza is once again supporting the cleanup effort by donating vouchers for a free slice of cheese pizza for all volunteers.

Anyone interested in volunteering or organizing a group of volunteers may call the Conservation Commission office at 203-563-0180 or just stop by the Town Green at 9 on Earth Day, Saturday, April 22. Work will go on, rain or shine.
