Support group helps cope with the loss of a spouse
Wilton’s Visiting Nurse & Hospice of Fairfield County will offer two bereavement support groups this summer to help individuals cope with loss following the death of a spouse.
One support group will meet weekly on Wednesday evenings from 5:30 until 7 beginning June 5 and will continue through July 24.
The other group will meet weekly on Monday afternoons from noon until 1:30, beginning June 24 and continue through Aug. 12.
“In these support groups, we will explore the grieving process and the profound sense of personal loss that follows the death of a spouse,” said the Rev. Karen Judd, an interfaith minister and bereavement counselor with the agency. “With the death of a spouse, we lose the most central relationship in our adult lives. We not only lose a loved one but an essential aspect of our identity as well. These bereavement support groups will help participants gain a deeper understanding of their feelings of grief and begin the process of healing.”
The groups will meet in Suite 114 at the Health and Wellness Center of Norwalk Hospital at i.park, 761 Main Avenue (Route 7) on the Norwalk/Wilton town line.
The support groups are free but pre-registration is required. Information: 203-834-6341, ext. 255.
