Support group explores cancer and nutrition

The Breast Cancer Survivors Support Group will hear from Bridget Bennett, an oncology dietitian, at its meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 25, at 6 p.m., at Wilton Library. The group meets in the Children’s Conference Room and is open to the community.

Bennett, who works at the Whittingham Cancer Center at Norwalk Hospital, will speak about nutrition and breast cancer. Her talk will cover how nutrition can help prevent cancer, ease the side effects of treatment, and improve the quality of life for the cancer survivor.

She will also address questions such as:

  • Is soy safe to eat?

  • Can I safely have a glass of wine now and then?

  • Is organic better?

  • What's the latest on the “dirty dozen” and the “clean 15?”

  • I'm on an aromatase inhibitor — what can I do to help protect my bones ?

  • What foods cause inflammation?
