Stargazing the November skies

The Wilton Conservation Commission will present a nighttime sky watch at Slaughter Field on Sunday, Nov. 6, at 6:30. Robert Lambert, director of the McCarthy Observatory in New Milford, will lead the stargazing event, and will provide two telescopes for optimal viewing.

There will be a campfire with s’mores, hot chocolate and mulled apple cider for participants to enjoy.

Slaughter Field is at the corner of Nod Hill Road and Piper’s Hill Road. Vehicles should park along the side of Piper’s Hill Road. Participants should dress for cool weather and bring a flashlight for safety. There are no bathroom facilities at this location.

Register at conservationevent@wiltonct.org and include the number of people planning to attend and a phone number where you can be reached if the event is cancelled for any reason. Should the weather be inclement or too cloudy for star gazing, it will be postponed until Sunday, Nov. 20. This gathering is free and open to the public.
