Two former prison inmates who have each spent time in solitary confinement, will lead a panel discussion on that topic Saturday, April 23, 7 to 9 p.m., at the Wilton Friends Meeting House, 317 New Canaan Road. The discussion will follow a free screening of the documentary Breaking Down the Box.
The panelists were incarcerated in Connecticut and each spent time in isolation — one for six months and one in protective custody as a result of her transgender status. They will speak of the impact solitary confinement has had on them.
A replica solitary confinement cell will be on display at the event and people will have an opportunity to spend time inside.
