Treatment-resistant schizophrenia and schizoaffective disorder will be discussed by Dr. Jeffrey Vernon, DO, at a National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) meeting on Wednesday, Dec. 4, from 7:30 to 9 p.m. in the Eliot Room Library, First Church Congregational, 148 Beach Road, Fairfield. It is open to the public, is free of charge, and light refreshments will be served. RSVP by calling Judy at 203-650-3463.

Dr. Vernon will explore the causes of treatment — resistant schizophrenia and various strategies for treating even the most difficult and seemingly hopeless cases, including in people who have failed to respond to multiple medications — even Clozaril.

NAMI is the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to improving the lives of persons living with serious mental illness and their families.
