Later this week, more than 175 volunteers will tie on their aprons and head to the tents to take in consignments and donations for the spring Minks to Sinks sale, which starts Saturday, May 4.

Consignments and donations will be accepted at the Minks to Sinks site at the intersection of School Road and Route 7 in Wilton on Tuesday, April 30, from 10 to 2, Wednesday, May 1 from 10 to 2 and 4 to 6, and Thursday, May 2, from 10 to 2. People wishing to consign or donate items are encouraged to go online to minkstosinks.info to review the list of items accepted before bringing their merchandise to the tents.

This semi-annual event gives people an opportunity to recycle items they have never used or no longer need and turn those goods into cash, by consigning or donating them for the sale. It provides hundreds of shoppers, some who come every year from as far away as Massachusetts, with bargains on new and gently used household items, furniture, luggage, garden tools, children’s toys, sports equipment, seasonal clothing, and, of course, minks and sinks.

Most importantly, the sale raises money for Family & Children’s Agency, the Norwalk-based nonprofit agency that provides much-needed social services to individuals and families in need in the surrounding communities. After more than 70 years, the sale is a finely tuned, well-oiled machine, drawing hundreds of shoppers who make the sale a success year after year. Each year, a small army of volunteers sort, price, organize, and display all the merchandise that comes in for the sale, ready to open for business at 9 on Saturday morning.

The spring Minks to Sinks sale runs from Saturday, May 4, through Monday, May 6. Bargain days are Sunday, May 5, from noon to 4, and Monday, May 6, from 9 to noon.
