A group of Wilton High School students will hold two bake sales Monday, May 29, to benefit the Wounded Warrior Project.

Led by Alexis Kiss, the students will open shop around 8:30 a.m., and will have homemade brownies, cookies, and cupcakes with “Americana” frosting for sale during the Memorial Day parade and a little bit after. They will be in front of Wilton Hardware in Wilton Center and American Legion Post 86 on Old Ridgefield Road.

Although the students are running the bake sale, it is not a school project, Alexis said. Those helping out are: Aggie Favilla, Brady Faria, Elizabeth Yoon, Cova Perez, Quinn Kiss, Shawn Heggland, Max Schwartz, Grace Rizzo, and Mary Collias

She began planning the bake sale a month ago.

“My dad is a veteran and my family is very patriotic,” she said. “I was thinking about something to do and thought Memorial Day would be a great day to do it.”

On her fundraising page, Alexis wrote of returning veterans: Often times many of these inspiring individuals come home with wounds you can and can’t see, like a missing limb, combat stress, or depression. Because they’ve risked everything for us, I’m committed to raising awareness and funds for these wounded service members and their caregivers.
