Malloy will help launch gas pipeline

Gov. Dannel Malloy will visit Wilton on Monday, Aug. 4, to kick off the Yankee Gas pipeline construction. A ceremony will take place at 11 a.m. at town hall.

Wilton is the first municipality to expand natural gas distribution under the state’s recently enacted Comprehensive Energy Strategy.

Yankee Gas will expand existing pipelines in the Center Street and River Road area. The goal is to complete construction in the village by Aug. 22. A target date of Aug. 21 is set for the School Road area that takes in Cider Mill School and Wilton High School via Kristine Lilly Way. School reopens Aug. 25.

The third targeted area runs along Wolfpit Road, west from Route 7 across the Norwalk River and train tracks to River Road.
