For the second time in just over a month, Interstate 84 will be closed near Brewster, N.Y., due to the replacement of a bridge.

The highway, which stretches from Sturbridge, Mass., to Scranton, Pa., will be closed to eastbound traffic at Exit 20 in Brewster, beginning Saturday afternoon, Oct. 20, at 5. It will reopen sometime Sunday afternoon.

The purpose of the closure is to replace a bridge over Dingle Ridge Road, using a procedure that slides the new roadway into place.

Traffic will be detoured off I-84 at Exit 20-N, for Route 22, then will move onto U.S. 6 east. Signs will direct traffic to enter I-84 at Exit 1 in Danbury.

Last month, crews installed a new bridge over the westbound roadway, forcing the closure of I-84 leaving Connecticut.
