A public hearing on an increase in water rates for customers of South Norwalk Electric & Water will take place Tuesday, Dec. 18, and Tuesday, Jan. 15, at 7 p.m.

A 5% increase was recently approved by the commissioners and electors of the 2nd Taxing District of Norwalk, according to a press release. The hearing is being held to advise customers of the increase and solicit community input. The additional revenue will be used, in part, to replace aging water mains and meters and to provide resources to maintain the water filtration plant and pumping stations, SNEW Director of Customer Care Eric Strom said.

The hearings will take place in the 2nd District Conference Room in the SNEW offices at 1 State Street in Norwalk. Customers are encouraged to attend and voice their opinion. SNEW serves several hundred customers in the Silvermine section of Wilton.
