Gold tournament aids veterans

Wiltonian Rose Krivoshik is a co-chair, and Syd Gordon is a committee member, for the 10th Annual Homes for the Brave Fallen Heroes Golf Classic on Monday, June 30, with a shotgun start at noon at the Connecticut Golf Club in Easton. Player warm-up starts at 10:30.

Proceeds will benefit ABRI/Homes for the Brave, a Bridgeport-based nonprofit that provides, with an emphasis on veterans, the housing, vocational and case management services necessary to help homeless individuals return to a productive and meaningful life. Sponsorships are available at a variety of levels to accommodate the budgets of individuals and businesses ranging from corporations to professional firms to small businesses.

The fee for lunch, dinner, golf and carts for four individuals is $1,400. To sign up as a sponsor or register for golf, visit, call Olivia Ellwanger at 203-338-0669 or email

The nonprofit organization currently operates three programs:

  • Homes for the Brave, a 42-bed transitional living facility for male veterans and non-veterans who are homeless;
  • The Waldorf Supportive Housing Program, a nine-unit permanent supportive housing program for male veterans;
  • Female Soldiers: Forgotten Heroes, a 15-bed transitional living facility for homeless female veterans and their children under 10 years of age.
