Georgetown Day sponsors invite participants

The 12th annual Georgetown Day Festival is scheduled for Sunday, June 8. The festival, which fills Main Street, is sponsored by Georgetown Village Restoration, Inc., the Georgetown Volunteer Fire Department, the Georgetown Lions Club, and the Georgetown Community Association.

The day features activities for adults as well as children, live music by local bands, international foods, a palate-warming chili cook-off, a beer tent, a dunking booth, artisans and vendors selling arts, crafts, clothing, and jewelry. The youngsters can have their faces painted, laugh with the clowns, take a turn in the bounce house, and more.

As a community nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization, Georgetown Day is a viable organization for community service on college applications or for those wishing to be an active participant in their community. Volunteer work may include: check-in, manning various event stations, tasks related to setting up and breaking down the festival, assisting vendors with set up and breakdown, etc.

Organizers are looking for a minimum of two-hour commitments. Anyone interested may call Ralph Bosch at 203-943-1569.

In addition, the sponsors invite all local vendors and chili cooks to apply to join in the events of the day. Potential exhibitors may download an application at georgetownct.org or email GVRI@optonline.net.

Chili competitors may call Pat at 203-544-8500. Spots are limited.
