Fleur de Lis Dance Academy hosts American Academy of Ballet Performance Awards

The Fleur de Lis Dance Academy will host the American Academy of Ballet Performance Awards on Thursday, March 26, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in its dance studios at 1 Danbury Road in Wilton.  The director of the American Academy of Ballet, Simon Furman, will judge the participating dancers who will perform a series of distinctive solo choreographic compositions. Unlike the highly commercial and competitive dance competitions, the American Academy of Ballet PerformanceAwards are designed to enable dancers to enhance their technique and performance skills and challenge themselves to reach their personal best in a supportive and non-competitive environment. Each dancer receives a medal — bronze, silver or gold — with two levels of distinction and a certificate for participating.

"While The American Academy of Ballet holds performance awards throughout the world, this is the only awards program it holds in Fairfield County," said Michelle Sperry, owner of the Fleur de Lis Dance Academy." We invite everyone to attend this event. It's a wonderful opportunity for family members, friends and other dancers to observe these dancers perform. There will be a reception immediately after the program that we hope everyone will enjoy."
