Fourth and fifth graders are invited to enter this year’s Fire Prevention Poster Contest, which began Oct. 1. Wilton Fire Marshal David Kohn announced the theme is Fire Prevention — Everyone/Everyday. The purpose of the contest is to promote child and adult awareness of fire prevention responsibilities.

The annual statewide competition is run by elementary school teachers in cooperation with the contest sponsors: The Connecticut Fire Marshals’ Association, Office of the State Fire Marshal, Connecticut Fire Chiefs’ Association, State Board of Education and the Connecticut FAIR Plan (representing the insurance industry).

All winning posters on the county level will be exhibited around the state, including the State Capitol during October.
