Thirteen is a good number for Ambler Farm. This year marks the 13th Ambler Farm Day, the farm’s popular fall festival on Sunday, Oct. 6, from noon to 4, rain or shine.

Activities include the ever popular apple slingshot, garden market and farm stand, farm animals, hay rides, children’s crafts and games, the hay maze and tumble and pumpkin patch.

Not to be missed is the baked goods and pie sale, featuring apple pies make during a marathon bake-a-thon the Friday before. The apple pies are made with the tried-and-true Ambler Farm Apple Pie recipe. Those who like to bake are invited to donate their own contributions for the sale. The farm will accept  all home-made baked goods, breads, cookies and confections. They may be dropped off on Saturday, Oct. 5, at the farm or on Sunday, Oct. 6 before 10. Please label any donations that have nuts.

The Pumpkin Warrior trebuchet will be rolled out once again for “Punkin’ Chucking,” and families are invited to make their own scarecrows.

Through it all there will be live music and refreshments.

Admission is $20 per family, $10 for seniors. A free shuttle bus will run from Cannondale train station between 11:30 and 4:30. All proceeds will benefit the restoration of the historic Raymond-Ambler farmhouse as well as ongoing educational programs.

Ambler Farm Day 2013 is sponsored by BankWell of Wilton, Events Party Rentals, Moments by Andrea Photography, Tall Trees Landscaping, and Teed & Brown. The farm is at 257 Hurlbutt Street.
