The Class LL state championship didn’t end the same way most title games do. When Southington’s softball team scored its final run in the bottom of the sixth inning to extend its lead over Bristol Central to 13-1, there was a hesitation before the celebration.
Partly caused by the large gap in scoring, (something Southington has been accustomed to this season), the 12-run mercy rule cutting the game short and perhaps partly because of the regularity in which titles are won by Southington.
