Bobby Pattison, who guided Newtown High School's football team to a walk off state championship that resonated across the country on the seventh anniversary of the Sandy Hook shootings, has resigned as head coach after six years, citing family responsibilities.
Pattison, 35, said his wife Allie is expecting their second son in March. Their first son, Wyatt, is nearly 20 months old. "I want to ensure I get to spend as much time as possible with them," Pattison said. "Football is a year-round beast and if I can't do it 100% in the capacity I want to give to it, then it wasn't right for me to continue."
