GameTimeCT Top 10 Boys Basketball Poll (March 6): Four conference champs climb rankings as states begin

The Run to the Sun begins. A total of 121 teams have dreams of reaching the Mohegan Sun Arena. Only 10 will get there for the weekend of March 18-19.

There was some movement among the top 10 teams in this week’s poll, but the top two teams remain the same: No. 1 East Catholic and No. 2 Notre Dame-West Haven after winning the CCC and SCC tournaments, respectively. East Catholic is the top seed in Division I while Notre Dame is seeded third.

Waterbury Career Academy earned a spot in the top 10 for the first time after winning the NVL tournament championship. WCA is at No. 10.

Kolbe Cathedral made the biggest jump up, moving up four spots to No. 3 after defeating Notre Dame-Fairfield in the SWC tournament final. Notre Dame-Fairfield swapped spots with Kolbe, dropping to No. 7 this week. Danbury, which won the FCIAC crown, also moved up four spots to No. 4.

Northwest Catholic remained in No. 5 position despite not playing last week. The Lions lost to Conard in the opening round of the CCC tournament on Feb. 23. Bloomfield, which lost to East Catholic in the CCC final, stayed at No. 6. The Warhawks are the top seed in the Division III tournament.

St. Bernard won the ECC Division I tournament and moved up to No. 8. Ridgefield, which saw its bid for a fifth consecutive FCIAC crown end in the semifinals, slid to No. 9.

The final poll will be released after the completion of the CIAC state tournaments.
