First Team

Golfer of the Year 

Libby Dunn

Berlin, junior

Stats: Posted a 79 at the Black Hall Club to tie for first place at the State Open, giving her back-to-back titles. Shot 80 at Timberlin GC to share medalist laurels with teammate Kenna Roman at the Division II state championship meet. That also helped Berlin win the team championship. Placed third in the CCC championship meet (79). Finished with a 4.37 stroke differential.

Honors: Two-time All-CCC, GameTimeCT all-state and coaches all-state selection.

Off the course: High Honor Roll Student every quarter, Member of UpBeat, a community service group, the Unity Team, the school's advisory committee, National Honor Society and Rho Kappa National Social Studies Honor Society. Also a volunteer at the First Tee of Connecticut.

Aoife Devaney

Waterbury co-op, sophomore

Stats: Fired a 4-over-par 76 to finish second to Molly Mitchell at the CIAC Division I state championship meet. Shot 81 at the State Open to place fourth. Finished with a 6.3 stroke differential. Record a hole-in-one this season.

Honors: Two-time NVL Brass Division and coaches all-state selection. 

Off the course: COLT Poetry contest 2nd in HS2 Chinese, Eagles Business award recipient.

Anna DeSanto

Hall, sophomore

Stats: Finished with a state-best 2.5 stroke differential. Shot 82 to tie for 10th at the CIAC Division I state championship meet held at Tashua Knolls GC. Shot 81 at the State Open, held at Black Hall Club, to place fourth. Helped lead Hall to the Division I state title in 2021. Placed second in the CCC tournament with a 78. Set school record by shooting a 35 at home course, Rockledge GC

Honors: Two-time GameTimeCT First team All-State and All-CCC selection. 

Off the course: CIAC All-Academic pick. Member of West Hartford Camerata (viola) and National Spanish Honor Society. Accepted into Solisti (viola).

Samantha Dunn

Berlin, freshman

Stats: Shot 84 at Timberlin GC to tie for third at the Division II state championship meet. Shot an 85 at the State Open to tie for seventh place. Placed fifth in the CCC meet with an 83.  Finished with a 5.45 stroke differential.

Honors: All-CCC and coaches all-state selection.

Off the course: High Honor Roll Student all four quarters, Member of UpBeat, a community service group, the Unity Team and the school's advisory committee. Also a volunteer at the First Tee of Connecticut.

Ava Gross

Amity, senior

Stats: Medalist at the SCC championship meet, firing a 78 at Oronoque CC. Shot 78 at Tashua Knolls to finish fourth at the CIAC Division I state championship meet. Tied for seventh at the State Open, shooting an 85. Finished with a 5.66 stroke differential.

Honors: Two-time All-SCC , GameTimeCT all-state and coaches all-state selection.

Off the course: Class president, member of National Honor Society, French National Honor Society and English National Honor Society.

Up next: Will attend William & Mary in the fall.

Sydney Hidalgo

Cheshire, junior

Stats: Shot 80 at the State Open to place third. Shot 90 to place third at the SCC championship meet. Shot 85 to tie for 12th at the CIAC Division I state championship meet. Had a 6.33 stroke differential.

Honors: All-SCC selection.

Anna Lemcke

Staples, senior

Stats: Her 79 at the Black Hall Club was good enough for a tie for first place in the State Open. Shot 84 at Fairchild Wheeler Black Course to tie for second at the FCIAC meet. Tied for eighth at the CIAC Division I state championship meet with an 81 at Tashua Knolls GC, Finished with a 5.41 stroke differential.

Honors: All-FCIAC selection. GameTimeCT second team all-state pick in 2021. Two-time All-FCIAC and state coaches selection.

Off the course: Member of National honor society, German national honors society, Spanish national honors society, president of the German club, member of the Girls Can Code, Young Democrats club and culinary clubs; volunteer for OTA - a non-profit helping improve children lives in Camaroon, Africa through tennis .

Up next: Will attend St. Andrews in Scotland.

Molly Mitchell

New Canaan, senior

Stats: Won the CIAC Division I state championship meet with a 3-over-par 75 at Tashua Knolls GC, helping New Canaan win the team championship. Shot 88 at Fairchild Wheeler Black Course to place fifth at the FCIAC meet and help New Canaan win its fifth consecutive league crown. Finished with a 5.04 stroke differential.

Honors: Two-time FCIAC Player of the Year, All-FCIAC and coaches all-state selection.

Off the course: Captain of the field hockey team, helping lead the Rams to the state championship. 

Up next: Will play field hockey at Colby in the fall.

Laniah Moffett

Waterbury co-op, sophomore

Stats: Finished with a 3.8 stroke differential. Shot 77 at Tashua Knolls GC to place third at the CIAC Division I state championship meet, Shot 92 at the State Open.

Honors: Coaches all-state selection. GameTimeCT second team all-state pick in 2021.

Morgan Petersen

Glastonbury, senior

Stats: Finished with a 2.85 stroke differential. Shot 79 to tie for fifth at the CIAC Division I state championship meet held at Tashua Knolls GC. Placed fifth at the State Open, shooting an 82 at Black Hall Club. Medalist at the CCC tournament (77).

Honors: Two-time All-CCC selection. State coaches selection. GameTimeCT second team all-state pick in 2021.

Off the course: Member of  the World Language Honor Society, DECA (business club), Yearbook Club and Host Club (welcoming committee).

Kendall Reed

Newtown, senior

Stats: Defended her title at the SWC championship meet. Shot 90 at the State Open to tie for 11th. Shot 86 at the CIAC Division I meet. Had a 6.14 stroke differential.

Honors: Two-time All-SWC selection. All-State coaches pick.

Off the course: Member of National Honor Society, Link Crew and Class Council. Also played basketball.

Up next: Will play golf at Bates next season.

Berlin, junior

Stats: Shot 80 at Timberlin GC to share medalist laurels with teammate Libby Dunn at the Division II state championship meet. Placed fourth at the CCC meet with an 81. Shot an 86 at the State Open to finish 10th. Finished with a 3.4 stroke differential.

Honors: All-CCC selection.
