Girls volleyball top performers from the CIAC tournaments

Leah Bahamonde, RHAM: The senior libero collected 34 digs in the Raptors’ final two matches, including 15 in a 3-0 shutout of Simsbury for the Class L championship.

Fallon Bailey, Lyman Memorial: The senior had 10 kills, 15 digs and a pair of blocks to help the Bulldogs shut out Coventry in the Class S final.

Lauren Bigin, Weston: Bigin had 21 kills, 27 digs and five aces to help lead the Trojans to a five-set victory over Seymour in the Class M championship match.

Leilani Gillespie, Darien: Gillespie had a double-double with 11 kills and 15 digs, and added five blocks, but the Blue Wave fell to Greenwich 3-1 in the Class LL semifinals.

Ally Hadley, RHAM: The junior was named the MVP of the Class L tournament after collecting 12 digs, six kills, and six aces in the Raptors’ 3-0 win over Simsbury. She also had eight kills, four aces and eight digs in a semifinal shutout of North Haven.

Sydney Lyon, Weston: Lyon racked up 27 kills, 28 digs, four aces and two blocks in Weston’s five-set victory over Seymour in the Class M championship match. Lyon was named MVP of the tournament.

Callie Nanos, Lyman Memorial: Nanos had a double-double with 16 kills and 12 digs, earning MVP honors, as the Bulldogs defeated Coventry 3-0 for the Class S championship.

Brenna Piller, Simsbury: The junior had 12 digs, 15 assists, three kills and two aces in the Trojans’ loss to RHAM in the Class L final.

Adele Sotgiu, Greenwich: The senior had seven kills and was named the MVP of the Class LL tournament after the Cardinals won their third state championship, 3-0, over Ludlowe. Sotgiu also led the Cardinals with 17 kills in a 3-1 semifinal win over Darien.

Lucia Spanjol, Greenwich: The junior setter had a combined 75 assists in the Cardinals’ last two matches, including 45 against Darien in a 3-1 win in the semifinals, and 30 against Ludlowe in a 3-0 win in the final.

Ruby St. Onge, Coventry: The senior had 12 kills, 15 digs and three aces in the Patriots’ 3-0 win over Griswold in the Class S semifinals. She added 11 digs and five kills in a loss to Lyman Memorial in the final.
