For the first time since 2016, UConn women’s basketball will play in the national championship game against South Carolina.

Fans who are not able to make it to Minnesota for the championship game can watch the game at the UConn Gampel Pavilion at Storrs on Sunday at 8 p.m.

The "Gampel Watch Party" is free and open to the public. All fans have to do is claim their ticket here.

Second seed UConn broke its four-tournament streak of falling in the national semifinals by defeating No. 1 seed Stanford 63-58 Friday night. This will be UConn’s 12th appearance in the championship game.

The Huskies have never lost while playing for the title, going 11-0 all-time in the NCAA Tournament championship game.

“We said the other day that points are hard to come by in this tournament. Today was certainly no different,” UConn coach Geno Auriemma said. “You’re going to have to win some other way than thinking you’re just going to come out here and it’s going to be nicey nicey and they’re going to let you shoot whatever shot you want to shoot."

Auriemma entered his 37th season in 2021-22 and has 11 NCAA Championships, 21 Final Fours, six perfect seasons and 53 conference championships.

UConn will now get the chance for revenge, facing South Carolina, which beat UConn earlier this year, for the title. South Carolina is making its second appearance in the title game after last winning the national championship in 2017.
