It\u2019s early December, the time nears. Children are already looking forward to Christmas. Want to make some kids happy?The Toys for Tots collection sites are open for the season of spreading holiday cheer.In Wilton, donations of new, unwrapped toys may be taken to Fire Station 1 at 236 Danbury Road or Fire Station 2 at 707 Ridgefield Road until Monday, Dec. 21. This week,Westy Self Storage sent word that for the 17th year, it will serve as a designated drop-off location for the Toys for Tots drive. (see Business Update on page 6C).There\u2019s also the Stuff a Cruiser event that\u2019s part of the Toys for Tots effort on Sunday outside The Toy Chest in town (see News Notes on this page).The drive has been a long-standing, admirable effort run and coordinated in town by the Wilton Firefighter Local 2233 and Wilton Fire Department to collect toys for children of families in need here and in the nearby area. Toys for Tots is a longtime U.S. Marine Corps Reserve program.The generosity of the Wilton community came through as never before last year, when more than 1,200 toys were collected \u2014 the most successful drive to date, according to the firefighters.Kids in town, most of them, know Santa will make their Christmas merry. But for some \u2014 a few in Wilton, more in some other places \u2014 Santa may need some help from the firefighters and the Marines.Let\u2019s make sure that happens.
