The days around Thanksgiving are full of spending opportunities: Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, and Cyber Monday.

But the spirit of Thanksgiving continues on Tuesday, Nov. 28, which has become known as Giving Tuesday. This is an opportunity to support local charities, many of which offer an easy path to donations on their websites.

The establishment of Giving Tuesday was brought to The Bulletin’s attention by Stay at Home in Wilton, which helps seniors remain in their homes by providing social activities to help members share new friendships and to keep their minds active; transportation to get them where they need to be if they don’t drive; friendly companions that provide a convivial person to chat with the senior for brief periods; and home fixups for those hard-to-handle tasks like changing lightbulbs, installing air conditioners, and fixing many other simple things around the house.

There are many deserving charities in Wilton, and you really don’t have to wait until Tuesday to help them out. Nevertheless, please remember them at this time of giving thanks.
