Worker hurt after collapse at Wilton home under construction, officials say

WILTON — A worker was injured Friday when a Cannon Road home under construction collapsed, officials said.

The owner of the home who declined to be identified said the worker was taken to the hospital and is expected to survive.

Fire Marshal Rocco Grosso said firefighters were dispatched "to a building under construction that collapsed" and a person had fallen into the basement Friday morning.

Wilton police did not provide details about what happened and said the Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating the incident.

Ted Fitzgerald, a spokesperson for OSHA, said the agency's Bridgeport office was notified and responded to the scene on Friday.  He said the agency did not immediately have more information about the incident.
