Westwood Flooring opens with art in mind

The fourth Westwood Flooring store officially opened its doors, in Wilton on June 12, and it did so with some artistic flair.

The flooring company’s showroom on Danbury Road in the Calico Corners building debuted its collection of custom flooring solutions alongside the art of Arthur Gerstein.

Mr. Gerstein is a a digital photographer who uses techniques to create images that resemble oil or acrylic paintings.

“My imagery fits very well in this flooring gallery,” Mr. Gerstein said by email, “as there are a lot of muted tones and earth tones in carpeting and flooring samples... I knew my imagery on the walls would really stand out and make a statement.”

Aside from showcasing the work of Mr. Gerstein, Westwood prides itself on being a one-stop-shop for those looking to improve the interiors of their homes.

They also encourage contractors and designers to shop at the store.

“We have multiple finishes, from carpet to tile, to vanity countertops,” manager Michael Paolello said at the store last week.

“Surrounding stores may have a single finish, but here we put everything under one roof.”

In addition to hardwood flooring, the store offers carpeting, granite fabrication, tiling, and complete design services.

Being in a building with Calico, one of the country’s premier interior retail stores, also helps set Westwood apart from other flooring stores, the manager said.
