Wilton resident Jennifer Angerame has proved she’s got what it takes to succeed in the small business world as her Southern Yankee Clothing and Gifts recently celebrated its 15th anniversary.
A women who has always cultivated her artistic flair, her company has been based in Wilton since its beginnings, and is now featured in such far-off locales as Martha’s Vineyard, where Ms. Angerame’s clothing is sold at the Rainy Day boutique.
Southern Yankee draws its name from a bit of creative inspiration, the Texas-born owner said in a recent press release.
“The name is a salute to both my Dallas roots and my marriage to a Northerner. It defines me,” Ms. Angerame said.
Southern Yankee’s most popular products “combine the old and the new,” a press release reads. “The outfits begin with a basic cotton onesie, but become unique when combined [by Ms. Angerame] with a vintage handkerchief, or table cloth. The result is an adorable makeshift dress for children aged three months to six years.”
