Nick Perna will give his economic forecast at Marly’s in Wilton

The Wilton Chamber of Commerce will present its annual economic forecast breakfast — Eggs & the Economy — on Tuesday, Jan. 14th at Marly’s in Wilton Center, beginning at 8. Dr. Nicholas Perna, chief economist of Webster Bank, will return as the keynote speaker.

The Chamber’s “Economic Forecast Breakfast” is an annual look at how the financial landscape is shaping up for the coming year. Chamber President Tierney O’Hearn said guests can expect to hear Dr. Perna’s thoughts on “the 2013 economic results and what is expected in 2014 for the housing market, the future for small businesses, and whether or not the political changes in Connecticut and Washington, D.C. will affect our economic climate. Dr. Perna will also answer questions on the best investment strategies in the coming year.”

Dr. Perna is a magna cum laude graduate of Boston College and holds a Ph. D in economics from MIT. His economic background includes time with General Electric, the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, Connecticut National Bank and the President’s Council of Economic Advisors. Dr. Perna has served on the faculties of Williams College and NYU’s Stern School of Business. He currently teaches a course on the U.S. banking systems at Yale and is a visiting scholar at the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston. In 2002, Dr. Perna assumed his current position as economic adviser to Webster Financial Corporation.
